In May of each year, the island hosts the St. Croix International Triathlon. The race consists of a 1.2-mile (two kilometers) swim, a 35-mile (55 kilometers) bike leg (including the infamous hill known as 'The Beast') and a 7.4-mile (12 kilometers) run.
