Pt. Udall is the Easternmost point of the United States. To commemorate the Year 2000, the Government decided to erect a monument on the spot. William Lynch was selected from a field of twenty applicants to build the monument below. The concrete structure is a sundial with two capital letter M's set at right angles to each other. Two M's or MM are the year 2000 in Roman Numerals.
