The Estate Whim is located east of Frederiksted on route 70 and is a restored 18th-century
sugar plantation.
The windmill is an adaptation of a Dutch-style grinding mill. The dome is turned to
carry the sails into the required position. As cut sugar cane ferments rapidly, this puppy
would have been operating at full-tilt during the harvest.
The Great House was built in the 1700's. The
walls are almost three feet thick and constructed of just about everything but the kitchen
sink.
